My name is Nicholas Weaver and I started this blog because everybody else did.
I am currently a Automation Architect at VMware. My previous experience included field work for EMC on the virtualization focused vSpecialist team mostly building demos with brand new tech and working PoC’s with large providers. The majority of my experience was as a builder of cloud infrastructure as a customer in financial and media. My current focus is on developing cloud platforms, DevOps, next-generation toolsets for cloud, and being a flag-bearer for open-source at VMware. I have a passion for building and releasing free tools that make people’s lives easier.
Via this blog I have released tools for hypervisor disk alignment, monitoring, scripting management frameworks, and converted EMC NAS hardware into a virtual appliance that is both free and functional. My last claim to fame was as a head designer and developer of Project Razor; a bare & virtual metal provisioning tool coupled with Puppet for cloud deployment. This was released as 100% open-source this May with PuppetLabs & EMC. In my spare time I hook cloud API’s into Microsft Kinect, play with RFID, and other mad wastes of time.
